D-Town at Western Welcome Week
D-Town joined in the fun at Western Welcome Week in Littleton this year. The event ran from August 10-21, 2011. D-Town participated in the parade and gave everyone a chance to see one of their favorite town roller derby team. It was great fun and entertaining for everyone.
The goal of Western Welcome Week is to...
Tutu Ripper takes home the "Tango" Bout MVP Award after an EPIC battle with the Castle Rock 'n' Rollers. The bout came down to the wire with the Castle Rock 'n' Rollers sealing the victory over Urban Assault 116-105. Nevertheless, D-Town's Urban Assault showed they are contenders and Tutu Ripper gave a tremendous performance that night. Congratulations Tutu Ripper and enjoy the "Tango".
D-Town: Favorite Skater of all time?
I have several derby skill skater crushes, Judo No, Misto, Amanda Jamitinya, Juska, Evie, Nikki Brixx and so many more! A shout out to all derby girls!
D-Town: If you could have ANY 3 people, join your Roller Derby team, who would it be and why? :
1) Dog the Bounty Hunter as a Referee
2) Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt or Lara Croft
3) Last but not least a brachiosaurs as the ultimate blocker
D-Town: What do you think the roller derby stereotype is and do you think that your or others in D-Town fit that?
I think the roller derby stereotype is that we are hard hitting, tough, amazing athletes on wheels. The skaters at D-Town do fit this stereotype as do all derby girls.
D-Town: What do you do for a profession?
Stay at home Mom by day, ninja by night. I could tell you more but…
D-Town: Does anyone on your team do something for a living that would be totally unexpected?
I know of one skater who is going to be a funeral home director. I find this fascinating and cool. I think this living would be totally unexpected almost anywhere.
D-Town: Are you a country or city girl?
Wherever I am, I’m that type of girl. I grew up a mountain girl. Ask Figgy, she wasn’t allowed to play with me (mountain folk) as a child.
D-Town: Pet Peeves?
People that don’t respond when I ka-kaw! Also, if you are going the speed limit that’s too slow unless you’re in a school zone.
D-Town: Best Ice cream flavor in the universe?
I don’t have a favorite. But, I can tell you that I love it.
D-Town: Favorite roller derby drill?
I don’t have a favorite derby drill most of them rock. Anything to help us improve.
D-Town: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?
My favorite place is my husband’s arms.
D-Town: If you could live anywhere, where would it be? (Assuming your whole team could come with you, of course)
If we could live anywhere - I am thinking Lake Como, Italy would be mind blowing.
D-Town: What is the number one piece of advice you have for anyone interested in Roller Derby?
Do it, you’ll be better for it. (Say DO IT with your best Arnold Schwarzenegger accent)
